Surprise! Somebody really did record Isaac Bonewits' version, "Avalon Is Risen". It's available on the album of the same name, from Prometheus Music. Enjoy!

One summer day near Michigan's Black River, a few friends and I walked along a dirt road dampened by the previous afternoon's thunderstorms surrounded by a cloud of little butterflies--thousands--which arose from the dirt before us, fluttered around us, then settled to the road behind us. Enchanting and Enchanted!

'k, I'm jumping in on this real late, but I came upon this in a search for "rockin pagan" music. I'm familiar with the classic rockers you mention here, plus the George Winston, and I have heard the Gypsy song before though not in a long time. I'll definitely look into the other suggestions come next Solstice.

But, one of my favorite "Christmas" songs is more an ode to nature, quiet celebration and belief in general. It's John Denver's "Aspenglow." There's a version on YouTube which is slightly different from the one that was originally on Rocky Mountain Christmas, but you'll get the gist. Oh, and I also loooove Johnny Mathis' version of "Sleigh Ride" that was on an old Columbia House-exclusive album that my parents had. Go figure. :)

I have been wondering ... I know that s lot of people were sending positive energy to Isaac Bonewits when they learned he had cancer: when a cancer receives positive energy (through that energy's being sent to the person who has the cancer), is it possible that this could feed the cancer?

I've both the bad and good sides in performing. Sometimes the crowd is decidedly not receptive -- only in there to drink & talk to each other -- which usually drowns out a performance completely (harp, not at all assertive mostly). On the other hand, some of the best: two little girls dancing their hearts out during a couple of dance tunes. And after playing a lament -- the moment of total *silence* after, before the applause -- when it took them time to come back from the Otherworld.
Performance needs both givers and receivers -- otherwise we're only playing with ourselves -- pun intended.

Thanks, Erik
