French it is

Posted by Erik on May 3, 2009

A few weeks ago I mentioned my struggle with picking a language to settle down and learn… after talking it over with my family, we agreed that we are all going to learn French. My wife and I both had it in college, and it’s the only language that she feels competent to even try to teach; plus, our daughter has expressed an interest.

After thinking about it for a while, I realized that my goal for her is mostly to expose her to another language and culture at some depth, and to allow her brain to develop the second-language pathways that will make language acquisition easier for the rest of her life, whether she continues with French or not; and the “other” language and culture that we know best (for what that’s worth) is that of France.

Allons-y!

Bon choix. Pourrais-je recommender un site interweb? La web-maitress est vraiment sympa et les fotos sont toujours beaux.

Pushed back a week or two due to crappy yonkyo grip. :P Should be this week instead, but we’ll see how it goes.

If your dojo is like mine, yonkyo and gokyo are taught/used a lot less often than the first three holds…

French is a fun language. I took a bit in middle school and then in college.
