Hekate devotional – call for submissions

Posted by Erik on September 9, 2009

Cross-posting for Bibliotheca Alexandrina:

Call for submissions for Bearing Torches: A Devotional Anthology for the goddess Hekate

Submissions close: September 30, 2009

We can use essays, poetry, accounts of personal experiences, and other forms of devotional writing. We would like this anthology to reflect the diversity of ways that the goddess has been understood and experienced both in antiquity and in contemporary times, so the more contributions we receive the better!

As with all of our devotional anthologies we cannot provide payment or contributor copies, since the proceeds will be used for charitable donations and to help bring out further volumes in the Bibliotheca Alexandrina line. For more information on our Guidelines and Policies, please visit this page:

Submissions should be sent to: sannion (at) gmail (dot) com

What’s the deal with Hekate? Is she just popular now because of Wicca?

Well, in this case it’s just that She’s the next deity being honored in BA’s growing series of devotionals… I think that, yes, a lot of Her current popularity is probably due to Wicca – my personal interest in Her is fairly limited, and mostly due to Her role in the story of Persephone.
